The run to open the match grew to 7-3 in RMC's favor and stayed that way through 11-7. Virginia Wesleyan knotted the score with a 4-0 run to make it 11-11, but the Yellow Jackets answered with a 5-2 run of their own to retake the lead. The Marlins continued to hang around, bringing it within one at 21-20 but RMC won four of the final five points to take set one.
- The momentum seemed to shift in the Marlins' favor to open the second set, as they jumped out to a 7-3 lead. The Yellow Jackets responded to tie the score at 12 each but never took the lead until three straight errors gave RMC a 20-19 advantage. VWU tied the score at 23 but two more errors gave RMC the set two win, 25-23.
- Once again, VWU owned the beginning of the set, sparking a 6-1 run to put them ahead early. After VWU led 10-5, RMC went on a 4-1 run that got them within two at 11-9. The Yellow Jackets continued to pressure the Marlins, keeping the score within striking distance but they could never tie it up or take the lead. VWU forced set four with a 25-22 win in set three.
- This time, it was Randolph-Macon who took the lead to begin the set as Kody Rogan (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) had two kills to make the score 4-1. RMC would hold that lead out to 14-11 but the Marlins tied it with a 3-0 run to put pressure on the Yellow Jackets.
