Box Score 2 BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The 12th – ranked Randolph-Macon softball team wrapped up the regular season with a double header at Bridgewater on Tuesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets swept the Eagles to secure the two-seed in the conference tournament.
The Basics:

How it Happened (Game 1):
- Both teams went down in order in the first inning, but Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) began the scoring in the second inning with a leadoff home run to put the Yellow Jackets on top 1-0.
- Both pitchers kept shutting down offenses through four innings before the Yellow Jackets struck again in the top of the fifth. A Cameron Hildebrand (Fincastle, Va./James River) single, Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) double, and a Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) double provided two insurance runs for RMC. Rilee Baughan (Warsaw, Va./Rappahannock) knocked Salder in with a single to add another as RMC led 4-0 after five.
- The Eagles cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth inning after a runner scored on an error and then a two-out home run, as RMC led 4-2 heading into the seventh.
By the Numbers (Game 1):
- Eight of the nine batters in the RMC lineup had a hit in the game.
- Kayla Davis had the early offense with the solo home run to lead off the second inning for her fifth home run of the year.
- Naomi Sadler had a big double in the fifth inning, plating two runs that extended the lead further. She also scored a run.
- Jessica Pittman and Amanda Lanyon both doubled in the game. Lanyon later scored on the Sadler double.
- Gracie Ellis struck out 11 batters over seven innings in her complete game in the circle. She allowed just two unearned runs, picking up the win to add to her conference leading win total.
How it Happened (Game 2):
- Amanda Lanyon led off the game with a double down the left field line and was promptly driven in by a Rilee Baughan single to give RMC an early 1-0 lead in game two.
- RMC had the bases loaded and one out in the top of the second but couldn't cash in on the opportunity to keep it 1-0.
- Baughan picked up her second hit of the game with a double to lead off the third inning, followed by Kayla Davis who singled to put two runners on. Kiley Lamberth (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) and Jessica Pittman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) both picked up RBI singles later in the inning, extending the Yellow Jackets' lead to 3-0.
- In the fourth inning, Baughan did it again, doubling home another run to up the lead to 4-0 after Rilee's third hit of the game.
- Similar to game one, the Eagles cut the deficit in half in the fifth inning after a two-run single. Bridgewater stranded the two runners on as RMC held their 4-2 lead.
- Baughan notched her fourth hit of the game and third RBI with a single in the sixth inning, scoring Amanda Lanyon to push the lead to 5-2.
By the Numbers (Game 2):
- Rilee Baughan went a perfect 4-4 at the plate with two doubles, three RBI, and a run scored. In the circle, she threw a complete game, allowing just two runs and picking up the win to add to her win total that is tied with Ellis for the ODAC lead.
- Jessica Pittman went a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a walk and an RBI to continue her strong hitting.
- Amanda Lanyon and Naomi Sadler both had two hits in four at bats at the top of the order. Lanyon doubled and scored two runs. Sadler also scored a run. Both had a stolen base in the game as well.
- Kiley Lamberth had an RBI single in the third inning to help RMC extend their lead.
