Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team hosted Roanoke in the quarterfinals of the 2023 ODAC tournament. The Yellow Jackets defense held strong, but couldn't pull out the win, falling 12-10.

How It Happened
- Kevin Andrews (Fallston, Md./St. Paul's School) got the Yellow Jackets on the board first, scoring on an assist from Jack Smith (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha) to make it 1-0. Roanoke would score two of the next three goals before RMC scored the next two, one from Kevin Andrews for his second of the game. RMC led 4-2 after one.
- The Maroons went on a run in the second frame, scoring five of the seven goals in the quarter, holding a two-goal lead until Duncan O'Brien (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) scored to cut it to one before half.
- Roanoke built a three-goal lead after scoring three of the first four goals of the third quarter, but RMC would not go away. Jack Smith tallied a goal with five seconds left in the stanza to cut the lead to two.
- Duncan O'Brien cut the lead to one with his hat trick goal to open the fourth. Roanoke kept their lead, however, scoring another to make it 11-9. Jamie Smith (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) scored with 44 seconds remaining to make it a one-goal game but RC notched one more goal in the final seconds to seal it and win 12-10.
By The Numbers:
- Jack Smith registered his 100th career assist as part of his four-point night. He had one goal and three assists to lead the Yellow Jackets. This season, Jack set the program record for single-season assists with 50, tied the program record for points in a season with 87, as well as notching his 200th career point with over 100 goals and 100 assists.
- Duncan O'Brien notched a hat trick, with two important goals in the second half to help lead the comeback effort.
- JD Spotts (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) won 15 of 26 faceoffs, picking up eight ground balls along the way.
- Owen Gucwa (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) had eight saves as the anchor of RMC's strong defensive performance.
- Cooper Hauser (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) and Brodie Kent (Coquitlam, Canada/Centennial) each had five ground balls. Hauser also scored a goal on the night.
