Location: Fredericksburg, Va./University of Mary Washington/UMW Softball Stadium

How it Happened (Game 1):

  • RMC got two straight runners aboard to begin the first inning, as Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) led off with a hit by pitch and worked her way around the bases to score the first run of the game.
  • Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) led off the fourth inning by reaching on an error and eventually scored to make the Yellow Jackets' lead 2-0 after four innings.
  • In the ensuing inning, Rilee Baughan (Warsaw, Va./Rappahannock) doubled home Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) for her second RBI of the game, padding the Yellow Jackets lead to 3-0.
  • Baughan picked up her third RBI of the game after a two-out single by Sadler led to a double by Baughan to bring her home, extending the lead to 4-0.
  • Gracie Ellis went three up, three down in the seventh, including two strikeouts to end it, capping off a no-hitter for the sophomore, pacing the Yellow Jackets to a 4-0 win.

By the Numbers (Game 1):

  • Gracie Ellis continued a great stretch of games in the circle with her third career no-hitter. She struck out eight batters and had just one walk which was the only baserunner for the Eagles. It proves to be her second no-hitter of seven innings in her career, joining a no-hitter against Guilford last season in a 7-0 win over the Quakers. Her third no-hitter came in a 13-0 win over Marymount in five innings last year.
  • Naomi Sadler was a facilitator in the lineup, going 3-3 at the plate with a double and two stolen bases. She also scored two runs and had a walk.
  • Rilee Baughan hit two doubles, driving in three of the four Yellow Jackets' runs. It's her third multi-hit game in her last four games.

How it Happened (Game 2):

  • The Eagles scored in the opening two stanzas after hitting three singles in the first inning and two in the second, taking a 2-0 lead after two innings.
  • In the fourth inning, Naomi Sadler reached base for the fifth time in as many at-bats on the day and was driven in by Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) who singled to get the Lemon and Black on the board.
  • Naomi Sadler reached yet again to lead off the sixth, continuing her perfect day at the plate with a single. Olivia Owens brought her in with a sacrifice fly that knotted the game up at two.
  • UMW regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth, but RMC scored two in the top of the seventh to take the lead and win. After an Amanda Lanyon double and a Naomi Sadler single, RMC was able to plate two runs to sweep the double header.

By the Numbers (Game 2):

  • Naomi Sadler reached base four more times with a 2-3 performance, still reaching base each at bat thanks to a dropped third strike. She scored twice, drove in a run, and had a walk as well. She stole five bases, which surpasses her previous season-high by three bags.
  • Amanda Lanyon and Kayla Davis each had a hit and drove in a run in the game. Lanyon's hit was a double and also scored a run while Kayla Davis added a stolen base.
  • Rilee Baughan kept the Eagles at bay, allowing just one earned run and striking out seven batters in a complete game win. She moves to 11-1 on the year.

Up Next:

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Tuesday at 16th-ranked Lynchburg for a pivotal ODAC double header beginning at 2:30 p.m.
