Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team hit the road after a week off to battle new ODAC foe Averett in their final road game of the regular season. RMC exploded with 31 goals to down the Cougars 31-3 on the road.

How It Happened
- After Averett scored the opening goal of the game just a minute and a half into the contest, RMC answered with nine straight goals in the next seven minutes of play, beginning with a tally by Jack Smith (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha). Twice In the quarter the Yellow Jackets scored two goals within 11 seconds of each other, building out to a 12-1 lead after one quarter. Matthew Sutty (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) was prolific with two goals and three assists in the frame.
- Jack Smith began the second frame with his hat trick goal followed by seven goals by seven different players. RMC added two goals in the final minute of the second quarter. Matt Carter (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) and Tyle Dyson (Culpeper, Va./Liberty) each had tallies to take a 20-1 lead into the halftime break.
- It was the Peyton Rodriguez (Santa Barabara, Ca./Bishop Garcia Diego) show in the third quarter. He came into the game with four career goals and scored five in the third quarter alone. Tyler Dyson added his second goal of the game and Chap Hale (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) chipped in with a goal as well as RMC led 27-2 after three.
- Four different players scored the four Yellow Jackets goals in the fourth quarter. Cannon Varneau (Winchester, Va./Sherando) scored the opening tally of the fourth, followed by Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford), Matt Carter, and Matt Williams (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal)
By The Numbers:
- Matthew Sutty had a career day with two goals and seven assists. His nine points are the most of his career in his freshman campaign. In his last seven games, Sutty has recorded 12 goals and 16 assists for an average of four points per game over that span.
- Jack Smith finished with three goals and an assist in the game, leaving him one shy of 100 goals for his career.
- RMC was dominant on faceoffs, winning 32 of 37, including 18-20 (90%) by JD Spotts (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) and 11-14 (79%) by Cade Fick (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School).
- Peyton Rodriguez had a career-high five goals in the game, all coming in the third quarter.
- Matt Carter totaled four points on the day with two goals and two assists for a career high in points and goals.
