How It Happened

  • Senior Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) started the scoring with his team-leading ninth homer in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead for the Yellow Jackets. He has gone deep in two straight games and four of the past five contests.
  • The Hornets put up three in the bottom of the first before RMC responded in the fourth. Freshman Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) drew a leadoff walk and went to third on a base hit by senior Hunter Cole (Norfolk, Va./Granby). With one away, Lautenschlager singled up the middle to knock in Schmitt and Cole, tying the game at 3-3.
  • Sophomore Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) took over on the mound in the second and tossed four scoreless innings in relief with four hits, one walk and four strikeouts.
  • After RMC left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, LYN broke the tie in the bottom of the inning and held on for a 4-3 win.
  • Sophomore Bere Bauers (Devon, Pa./Devon) fanned two over the final three innings with three hits and no walks.

By The Numbers

  • Lautenschlager has eight multiple RBI games, the second-highest total on the team.
  • Junior Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) went 2 for 4, the only Yellow Jacket with multiple hits.
  • Senior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton) went 1 for 3 and extended his on-base streak to 17 games, the top current streak on the team.
  • Schmitt drew a pair of walks and extended his on-base streak to 14 games.
