How It Happened

  • RMC tallied the first goal of the afternoon, thanks to Cameron Foti (Annandale, Va./Annandale) to put the Yellow Jackets up 1-0. Lynchburg would score the ensuing four goals to take a 4-1 lead with just under three minutes to play in the first. Ethan Robinette (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day) got one back to cut the lead to two with 11 seconds left in the opening frame.

  • The Yellow Jackets flipped the game around in the second, sandwiching a Hornets goal with two goals on either side. Cameron Foti scored his second of the game to begin the quarter, and then Duncan O'Brien (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) tied it 4-4 just five minutes later. LYN added a goal to re-take the lead, but RMC stormed back with two more goals, beginning with Foti's hat trick goal and ending with Ethan Robinette's second of the game to take a 6-5 lead to halftime.

  • RMC kept piling on the goals in the third, as Ethan Robinette netted his hat trick goal to open the half, and four others following behind including a man up goal by Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford) that helped RMC push out to a 11-5 lead. After a nearly 22 minute scoring drought, Lynchburg got back on the board with 14 seconds left in the quarter to cut the lead to five.

  • The two teams traded goals in the fourth quarter, as stellar defense and goaltending by Owen Gucwa (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) kept the Hornets from coming back, as RMC finished out the win, 13-9.
