How It Happened
- RMC was dominant on both sides of the field from the jump, as Avery Tankersley (Baltimore, Md./Boys Latin) got the scoring started with a goal two minutes into the game. Ethan Robinette (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day) chipped in two goals in the first frame as the Yellow Jackets led 6-0 after one.
- Matthew Sutty began the second quarter with his second goal of the game, with Jack Smith and Austin Payne (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) each netting two goals in the quarter to complete their hat tricks before the halftime break. The RMC defense was a brick wall, forcing 13 first half turnovers to lead 13-0 after 30 minutes of play.
- Like the second quarter, Sutty opened the third with another goal, completing his hat trick. He would score his fourth goal later in the quarter, as Virginia Wesleyan was able to get onto the board, netting two, but RMC's offense kept the petal down to widen the lead to 18-2 at the end of the third quarter.
- RMC got goals from four different players in the fourth, beginning with Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford). He was followed by Robinette scoring his third of the game, and Cannon Varnau (Winchester, Va./Sherando) and Matt Carter (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) capped the scoring for the Lemon and Black with goals of their own.
