Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Va. – The 9th-ranked Randolph-Macon softball team hit the road for a pivotal conference tilt at Lynchburg on Tuesday afternoon. RMC got a timely hit in the seventh inning in game one to top the Hornets 5-4. The Yellow Jackets blanked Lynchburg in game two, 4-0, to complete the sweep.

How it Happened (Game 1):
- After a scoreless first inning on both sides, Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) doubled to lead off the top of the second, which was shortly followed by NFCA National Player of the Week Gracie Ellis (New Kent, Va./New Kent) driving in the run with a single to take the lead.
- Davis was able to single to lead off the fourth inning which, like the second inning, led to a run for the Yellow Jackets. Kiley Lamberth (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) doubled in a run with one out to extend the RMC lead to 2-0.
- The Lemon and Black were able to tack on another run in the fifth after another leadoff single, this time by Ellie Herndon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) and was driven in by reigning ODAC Player of the Week Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick).
- Gracie Ellis had shut down the Hornets offense until Lynchburg struck for four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead 4-3.
- The Yellow Jackets were down to their final out when Kayla Davis walked to load the bases, and Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) came through in the clutch to drive in a pair of runs with a single to take the lead 5-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh.
- Lynchburg got a runner to third after a leadoff double, but after sniffing out a safety squeeze, the Yellow Jackets prevailed 5-4 over the Hornets.
By the Numbers (Game 1):
- Olivia Owens had the big hit, singling home two runs in the seventh to plate the go-ahead run. All part of a 2-3 day for the junior.
- Kayla Davis also had two hits in the game, a double and a single. She reached base a third time on a walk which helped set up Owens' single in the seventh.
- Naomi Sadler and Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) each had two hits and scored a run in the game. Sadler added an RBI to her credit while Lanyon also added a stolen base.
How it Happened (Game 2):
- Randolph-Macon struck first in the second inning, as Kiley Lamberth picked up her second RBI of the day with a single to left field to notch the first run of the game. Amanda Lanyon had her first of three hits in the game to score Lamberth to tack on the second run of the inning.
- The Yellow Jackets threatened in the third inning but left two runners on. Rilee Baughan continued her dominance in the circle going 1-2-3 again in the third and fourth innings.
- It took until the seventh inning for RMC to get some insurance, adding another two runs thanks to a throwing error that scored a pair, giving RMC the sweep over LYN.
By the Numbers (Game 2):
- Amanda Lanyon was the table setter for the lineup, going 3-4 with a run and an RBI, adding in a stolen base as well.
- Rilee Baughan continued her stretch of great pitching from the circle. She threw a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out four. She lowered her season earned run average down to 0.99, which leads the ODAC.
- At the plate, Rilee Baughan added a hit and an RBI. Her lone hit was a double. She had a sacrifice bunt that plated two on a throwing error in the seventh.
- After her pitching performance in game one, Gracie Ellis notched two hits in game two. Reagan Hill (Hanover, Va./Hanover) also had two hits in the game.
- Kiley Lamberth came up with two big RBIs on the day, one in game one, and another in game two.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday for an ODAC double header against Roanoke in Ashland at 1:00 p.m.
