How it Happened:
- Kolby Gibson (Bumpass, Va./Louisa) picked up two early kills in the first set, as RMC jumped out to a 5-3 lead over the Eagles. Juniata then went on an 11-2 run to build a seven-point lead, 14-7. RMC took a 15-8 deficit and turned it into a 19-17 deficit shortly after. The Eagles held off the RMC comeback attempt to grab a 25-22 set one win.
- Once again, RMC jumped out to an early lead in the second set, holding a 7-2 lead. The Yellow Jackets held onto that lead for the entire set, not letting Juniata get back into it. The Eagles made it close at the end, bringing it within two, but RMC held them off as Ian Wagenhauser (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) put the finishing touches on the set with a kill. RMC won the set 25-23.
- It was Juniata's turn to get the early lead, starting out up 5-2. The Yellow Jackets pulled within one after a 5-1 run to make it 16-15, but Juniata held them off. RMC then tied it at 19 and then again at 22, but the Eagles won three of the final four points in the set to win a crucial third set, 25-23.
- In set four, neither team could open a lead very wide. It went back-and-forth but the Eagles slowly built out a lead late in the set. A 6-2 Eagles run made it 22-16 that put RMC on their heels. Juniata closed out the set to take the match three sets to one.
