Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Gracie Ellis (New Kent, Va./New Kent) tossed a three-hitter in the opener with a season-high 12 strikeouts, while senior Natalie Robinson (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) and freshman Reagan Hill (Hanover, Va.) both went deep in the nightcap, as the 10th-ranked Randolph-Macon softball team swept an ODAC doubleheader from Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened: Game 1
- The Yellow Jackets started the scoring in the bottom of the first. Senior Rilee Baughan (Warsaw, Va./Rappahannock) had a double to left and scored on a two-bagger by sophomore Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) to make it 1-0.
- RMC added to its lead in the fifth. Sophomore Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) led off with a bunt single but was erased at second when Baughan reached on a fielder's choice. Pinch-runner Bailey Hairfield (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) went to second on a single by Davis and scored on a base hit by junior Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) as the score moved to 2-0. Senior Cameron Hildebrand (Fincastle, Va./James River) pinch-ran for Davis and scored on a fielder's choice by freshman Ellie Herndon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) as the advantage grew to 3-0.
- The Yellow Jackets tallied their final run in the sixth. Sophomore Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had a one-out single, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball to make it 4-0.
- The Hornets tallied their lone run in the seventh to make the final score 4-1.
By The Numbers
- Davis went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
- Baughan was 2 for 4 with a run.
- Ellis also had two hits.
- Ellis allowed one hit through the first six innings. She did not walk a batter in her 7.0 innings of work. Her fourth strikeout of the day gave her 300 for her career.
How It Happened: Game 2
- SU got a run in the top of the first in the nightcap before RMC quickly responded in the bottom of the frame. Lanyon had a leadoff walk and went to second on a single by Sadler. Baughan doubled to plate Lanyon with the tying run. Sadler came home on a wild pitch and Baughan scored on a sacrifice fly by Davis to give the home team a 3-1 edge.
- The Hornets tied it in the top of the second before the Yellow Jackets reclaimed the lead for good in the bottom of the inning. Robinson had a one-out walk and scored on the first collegiate homer by Hill as RMC took a 5-3 advantage. Lanyon walked and scored on an error as the lead grew to 6-3.
- RMC put up another crooked number in the third. Owens had a leadoff single and was out at second on a fielder's choice by Ellis. Freshman Kiley Lamberth (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) had a base hit and Robinson followed with her first long ball of the season as the Yellow Jackets went up 9-3.
- Freshman Jordan Brown (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) knocked in a run in the sixth with a pinch-hit single, her first collegiate RBI, to make the final 10-3.
By The Numbers
- Baughan had two hits, two runs and one RBI. She earned the win and improved to 11-3. Baughan earned the win, going 6.0 innings with three hits and six strikeouts to raise her record to 6-1.
- Freshman Courtney Guthrie (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) pitched a scoreless seventh. It was her fifth appearance and she had not allowed a run.
- Sadler and Owens both had two hits.
- Lanyon went 1 for 2 with two walks and two runs.
