Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Va. – The 10th-ranked Randolph-Macon softball team returned home for a double header against Southern Virginia on Thursday afternoon in Ashland. The Yellow Jackets got stellar pitching and timely hitting to pull out two non-conference wins over the Knights.

How it Happened (Game 1):
- After being held scoreless in the opening stanza, the first four Yellow Jackets batters in the second inning reached base as RMC posted two runs from a Natalie Robinson (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice to take an early lead.
- An inning later, Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) led the inning off with a single, then stole a base, and then was knocked in by Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) who singled her home. Natalie Robinson picked up another sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-0 after two.
- Gracie Ellis (New Kent, Va./New Kent) continued to dominate in the circle as RMC got the bases loaded and scored another run in the fifth inning which proved to be the final run of the game. Ellis finished off the complete game shutout as RMC won 5-0.
By the Numbers (Game 1):
- Gracie Ellis threw her second complete game shutout of the season, giving up just three hits and striking out seven while throwing just 73 pitches. She helped herself out at the plate as well, going 3-4.
- Kayla Davis also had three hits in the game, going 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
- Natalie Robinson did not register an at bat after two sac flies and a walk, but did drive in a pair of runs.
- Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) continued her great stretch at the plate with another two hits today, adding a walk and a run scored.
How it Happened (Game 2):
- Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) led the game off with a walk and a stolen base, followed by Rilee Baughan (Warsaw, Va./Rappahannock) clearing the bases with a two-run blast two put RMC ahead in the first.
- Naomi Sadler led off the third with a single and added to her ODAC leading stolen base total to get into scoring position. After being moved over to third, she came home on a sac fly by Kayla Davis to add to the lead.
- RMC's fourth sacrifice fly of the day came in the fourth inning thanks to Reagan Hill (Hanover, Va./Hanover). She was followed up by Amanda Lanyon driving in a run with a double in the next at bat as RMC led 5-0 after four.
- The Yellow Jackets added one more run in the sixth to extend the lead and SVU scored their first and only run of the day in the top of the seventh but a double play ended a further threat to give RMC a 6-1 win.
By the Numbers (Game 2):
- Eight RMC hitters had at least one hit, with Reagan Hill and Kiley Lamberth (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) each having two hits. Hill added an RBI to her credit, while Lamberth scored a run.
- Amanda Lanyon and Rilee Baughan each went 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
- Naomi Sadler went 1-3 and stole two bases, bringing her conference-leading total to 14 for the season.
- Rilee Baughan threw six scoreless innings from the circle, allowing just three hits and striking out four.
