Pritchard, Tankersley Both Score Two at Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team traveled to Chestertown, Maryland for a Friday night matchup with a tough Washington College team. The Shoremen used a fast start to down RMC 15-7 on their home turf.

How It Happened

  • The shoremen started fast, jumping out to a six-goal lead in the first quarter. Owen Gucwa (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) had four saves in the first quarter to help RMC keep it close.
  • Washington extended the lead to seven before Avery Tankersley (Baltimore, Md./Boys Latin) notched back-to-back goals to get RMC on the board in the second quarter. WC added one more goal before halftime to take an 8-2 lead into half.
  • RMC showed fight, scoring three straight goals out of the halftime break. The first was a man-up goal by Ryan Pritchard (Crofton, Md./DeMatha), followed by Bubba Bowen (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Cameron Foti (Annandale, Va./Annandale) notching goals to cut the deficit to three.
  • Between the rest of the third quarter and the first 12 minutes of the fourth, Washington College scored seven straight goals before RMC tallied two more late. Ryan Pritchard scored his second of the game and Austin Payne (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albermarle) scored the final goal for RMC.

By The Numbers:

  • Ryan Pritchard notched two goals in the game, including the one that began a 3-0 run for RMC out of the halftime break.
  • Riley Rayne (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) had three ground balls and three caused turnovers to help on the defensive side.
  • Along with Cameron Foti's goal, he also had four ground balls and a caused turnover on the night.
  • The Yellow Jackets cashed in on their lone man-up opportunity of the day with the Pritchard goal.
