ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon Field Hockey Team traveled up to Baltimore for a showdown with sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins for a Wednesday night matchup. The Blue Jays came out on top with a big fourth quarter to secure the win.

How it Happened

• JHU was held to just one goal in the first period, as the Blue Jays had just one shot on goal through the first 15 minutes thanks to a strong R-MC defense.
• Freshman goalkeeper Cathryn Short (Henrico, Va./Saint Catherine's) notched five saves in the second quarter, taking it to halftime with just a two-goal deficit.
• JHU added two goals in the third quarter to extend their lead, but Short added four more saves to her credit.
• Johns Hopkins added four goals in the final frame to widen the gap and walk away victorious.

Inside the Numbers

• Short tallied double digit saves to keep R-MC within striking distance.
• Sophomore defender Anna Scheir (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and junior midfielder Anna Stribling (Annandale, Va./W.T. Woodson) provided solid defense as Scheir notched two defensive saves, and Stribling had multiple key stops on penalty corners.
