ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon Field Hockey is pleased to share the promotion of Teresita Ambrogi-Torres, who is being promoted as the program's first-ever Associate Head Coach.
Ambrogi-Torres began her first season as an assistant coach at RMC in 2022 and helped build the program up over the course of the past four seasons. Since her arrival, excluding her first season, the Lemon and Black posted three-straight seasons with a winning percentage greater than .500. Furthermore, her efforts helped the 2025 team earn 12 wins, marking the most in any single season since the 2010 Yellow Jackets team.
As an assistant coach, she was responsible for the oversight of attack, strength & conditioning and academic success, guiding the squad to the highest GPA among all teams on campus.
"I am deeply honored to be elevated into this position and continue serving the program and college that have given me so much both as a student-athlete and young professional," said Ambrogi-Torres. "Thank you to Coach Weiss for this opportunity, her unwavering belief in me, and her mentorship over the last nine years. I am incredibly proud to be a Yellow Jacket and am excited to continue building on this past year's success!"
Ambrogi-Torres graduated Cum Laude in December of 2021 from Randolph-Macon College with a Biology degree and a minor in Spanish. She was a Dean's List student, four-time ODAC All-Academic Team, three-time member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad and a VaSID Academic All-State honoree in 2021 as well as 2022. In the spring of 2021, Ambrogi-Torres received the Susan Locke de Nagy Award, presented annually to a senior female student-athlete in recognition of her outstanding athletic accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership and sportsmanship.
Athletically, she is one of the most decorated players in program history, as she was one of the first two players ever to be named as a five-time All-ODAC selection and was tabbed as a 2021 NFHCA Senior All-Star. During her five-year career, Ambrogi-Torres started 81 of 81 possible games and finished with 110 career points, 13th in the nation among active players at that time and sixth in program history. Her 46 career goals ranked 14th in the country and sixth in Yellow Jacket history.
"I am thrilled to announce the promotion of Teresita to Associate Head Coach and appreciate
Jeff Burns and our administration supporting this move," said Head Coach
Jessica Weiss. "Teresita has been instrumental in the program's identity on and off the field, first as a student-athlete and now as a staff member. She has unparalleled enthusiasm for RMCFH and the greater Randolph-Macon community. Her strong commitment to developing the mind and character of our players and her passion for the game make all of us better and I look forward to her continued impact on this program."
