ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton) homered and knocked in three as the 24th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team dropped a 10-3 decision to Mary Washington on Tuesday afternoon.

How It Happened:

• The Eagles tallied single runs in the first and third. The put up five in the top of the fourth, of which only one was earned. The Yellow Jackets got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Senior Spencer Pietruszynski (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) had a one-out double and scored on a homer by Johnson, his fourth of the season, to make it 7-2.
• UMW added two in the fifth and one in the sixth before R-MC completed the scoring in the eighth. Senior Will Hass (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) had a two-out single, moved to second on a base hit by Pietruszynski and scored on a single by Johnson to make the final 10-3.

By The Numbers

• Johnson finished with two hits, three RBI and one run.
• Pietruszynski went 2 for 4 with a run.
• Freshman Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) had a double in the fifth, his first collegiate hit.
• Junior Brennan Tyznar (Bon Air, Va./Trinity) made his first career appearance and retired the final Eagle in the top of the ninth.

R-MC will be the No. 3 seed in the ODAC Championship and will host No. 6 Roanoke in a best-of-three quarterfinal series. Game 1 will be on Sunday, May 8 at 3 p.m. Game 2 will be on Monday, May 9 at noon. If a Game 3 is needed, it will be played 30 minutes following the completion of Game 2.
