Randolph-Macon, Hampden-Sydney To Meet In MLAX Tournament

(ASHLAND, Va.) – Randolph-Macon returns to the postseason and will host a men's lacrosse ODAC Tournament quarterfinal game against its arch-rival Hampden-Sydney on Tuesday evening. The Yellow Jackets enter fourth seed while the Tigers come in as the fifth.

Tickets for the contest are available through Ticket Spicket and are $10 for fans ages 13 and older. College students are admitted free with a valid student ID. Tickets can be purchased at the game as well with cash only.

Jack Averna (Sr., Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 71 seconds left as the Yellow Jackets defeated their rival for the first time since 2013 and the first time at home since 2008. Averna led a balanced attack with three goals, while Bobby Clagett had an impressive game for the Tigers with seven goals.

Last Time Out: Randolph-Macon 23, Guilford 10 – Saturday, April 30, at Guilford

Records were broken and milestones were reached as the Yellow Jackets downed the Quakers in the regular season finale. Averna scored six goals to set the school record for goals and points in a single season. Andrew Tiffey (Sr., Columbia, Md. / Wilde Lake) added four goals to reach the century mark for goals in his career.

Hampden-Sydney 10, No. 11 Lynchburg 13 – Saturday, April 30, at Hampden-Sydney

The Tigers were locked in a battle with the nationally-ranked Hornets throughout the game and took it down to the wire with Lynchburg edging out the win. H-SC's Bobby Clagett scored with 7:25 to go to make it 11-10 Lynchburg, but the Hornets added insurance goals over the next two minutes to set up the final score.
