Box Score (ASHLAND, Va.) – Rianna Lowery (Fr., Bel Air, Md. / Notre Dame Prep) had a career day as she scored four goals and five assists in leading Randolph-Macon past Guilford in ODAC women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. Thanks to her play the Yellow Jackets bombarded the Quakers and led throughout the contest.
The Basics
Score: Randolph-Macon 22, Guilford 3
Venue: Nunnally Field
Records: Randolph-Macon 5-6, 2-1 ODAC; Guilford 4-7, 1-2 ODAC
How It Happened
- It didn't take long for Lowery to get started as she registered four points in the first quarter alone. Three of them were on assists as she found Taylor Mittelstadter (Fr., Chresterfield, Md. / Macnhester), Sarah Lynch (So., Fallston, Md. / Friends School of Baltimore), and Annie Bartley (So., Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) on goals. Lowery scored one herself on a free position attempt as the Lemon and Black carried an 8-0 lead into the second.
- Guilford eventually scored to start the second, but the Jackets didn't allow them to generate much momentum as they answered with the next three goals. Bartley provided the first two before Lowery made it 11-1 with just under 11 minutes to go in the half. By the break R-MC held a 13-2 lead.
- Amelia Davis (So., Davidsonville, Md. / South River) opened and closed the scoring in the third, while Lowery added another and assisted Kaleigh Mulligan (So., Dunkirk, Md. / Northern) on a player-up goal. Lowery and Mulligan weren't finished as they connected again in the fourth to make it 19-3.
Inside The Numbers
- Lowery was consistent throughout the day as she scored goals in every quarter. The only frame she didn't tally an assist was the second.
- Mittelstadter also had an eye for the goal as she scored four on the day. Three of them came in the first.
- Mulligan and Bartley had a four-point game as well for the Jackets. Both of them had three goals and an assist.
- Davis and Logan Schweiger (Jr., Church Hill, Md. / Queen Anne's County) added two goals and an assist.
- Goalkeeping was done by committee with Caraline Cypher (Sr., Havre de Grace, Md. / Havre de Grace) recording the win. She made three saves in the first quarter before giving way to Emma Taylor (So., Huntingtown, Md. / Huntingtown) and Ellen Stark (Fr., Orefield, Pa. / Oakcrest)
- Free positions heavily favored the Yellow Jackets as they were 8-for-13 on the day eight meters out.
- Shots were dominated by the Lemon and Black by a 40-11 count.
