Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Drew Ramos (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) matched his career high with 11 strikeouts as the Randolph-Macon baseball team defeated Hampden-Sydney 5-2 in ODAC action on Tuesday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- The Tigers scored unearned runs in the first and second innings. The Yellow Jackets got on the board in the bottom of the second as junior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton) smacked a two-out homer to left, his third of the season, to make it 2-1.
- H-SC put two on with no outs in the third. Ramos got a strikeout, a flyout and a strikeout to thwart the rally. R-MC would take the lead in the fourth. Sophomore Hunter Cole (Norfolk, Va./Granby) drew a one-out walk, went to third on a single by sophomore Myles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2. Webb would score the go-ahead run on a strange fielder's choice double play by freshman Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) as the Yellow Jackets took a 3-2 edge.
- The Yellow Jackets added an insurance run in the fifth. Freshman Lincoln Lubsen (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) had a leadoff double, was sacrificed to third by sophomore Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) and scored on a groundout by sophomore Matt Myers (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) as the lead grew to 4-2.
- Ramos retired the final 12 batters he faced, six by strikeout, leaving after six innings.
- R-MC tallied its final run in the seventh. Bush had a leadoff triple and scored on a groundout by Myers to push the advantage to 5-2.
- In the top of the eighth, the Tigers loaded the bases with no outs. Sophomore Wyatt Stanley (Beaverdam, Va./Patrick Henry) recorded a strikeout, senior Michael Stopper (South Riding, Va./Freedom) got an infield popout, and sophomore Jacob Lawler (Broad Run, Va./Battlefield) got a strikeout looking to end the threat.
- Lawler walked the leadoff hitter in the ninth and was replaced by sophomore Cole Stamm (Irvington, Va./Middlesex), who struck out three of the four batters he faced to record his third save.

- Ramos (4-0) allowed three hits and two unearned runs with three walks and 11 strikeouts.
- R-MC pitchers combined to fan 17 Tigers. H-SC stranded 10 runners.
