(VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.) – After two big wins last week, the Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team looks to keep the momentum rolling forward as it takes on Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday evening. The Yellow Jackets won their last two in nailbiting fashion, while the Marlins are looking to snap a two-game skid.
It will be the first contest between the two southeastern ODAC squads since 2019. Randolph-Macon will be looking for their fourth-straight victory against the Marlins.

A suffocating defense and a precise offense helped R-MC limit the Marlins' chances as the Lemon and Black jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one quarter and led 11-1 at the half. Colin DiSesa led the team with seven points on five goals and two assists.

The Yellow Jackets defeated their arch-rival for the first time since 2013 and first time at home since 2008 giving R-MC more to celebrate than the nine seniors presented during pregame. Jack Averna (Sr., Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) scored what proved to be the game winning goal with 71 seconds left for his third goal of the game to lead a balanced offensive attack.

The Quakers jumped out to an early lead and held on as the Marlins attempted a furious comeback attempt down the stretch. Mark Sprague led VWU with six points on four goals and two assists.
Player of the Week
Jack Averna has been named ODAC Player of the Week for his efforts in the wins against Shenandoah and Hampden-Sydney. The senior attackman opened up with 10 points in a 16-14 win against the Hornets with six goals and four assists. He followed up with the aforementioned hat trick against the rival Tigers.

- Andrew Tiffey (Sr., Columbia, Md. / Wilde Lake) has been one of the top shot takers in the nation all season and currently ranks No. 4 in Division III with a .553 shot percentage.
- As a team, the Yellow Jackets are No. 10 nationally and No. 2 in the ODAC with a .346 shot percentage. Also on the scoring end they are No. 24 in total assists with 119.
- The Yellow Jackets are No. 17 nationally in fewest turnovers per game with 16.00.
- Averna's scoring has put him in the top 25 for goals per game with 3.54 to put him at No. 23 in Division III.
