How It Happened
- Back-and-forth action filled up most of the game with teams answering each other's runs. With the teams gridlocked at 3-3 after the first, Randolph-Macon appeared to have some momentum with goals from Brandon Smith (Sr., Richmond, Va. / Douglas Freeman) and Jack Smith (So., Stevensville, Md. / DeMatha Catholic) opening up the second with back-to-back scores.
- Shenandoah answered by scoring the next four and regained the lead at 7-5. It didn't last long as Averna and Jack Smith came right back to tie the game. Andrew Tiffey (Sr., Columbia, Md. / Wilde Lake) scored right before the half ended as well to give the Jackets a one-goal lead at the break.
- Not much separation took place in the third. The Hornets scored first, but R-MC answered with four of the final six goals. In the fourth, the Jackets went goal for goal with the Hornets. The attempt to pull away was always thwarted as Shenandoah alternated goals throughout the rest of the way.
