Men's Lacrosse Heads To Bridgewater

(BRIDGEWATER, Va.) – Randolph-Macon returns to ODAC play as it hits the road to Bridgewater for a men's lacrosse contest at 4 p.m. Saturday. Both teams are in the middle of the league standings early on with both having one loss to their record.

A strong first quarter by the Eagles held up as they defeated the Yellow Jackets for the first time in the series. Jack Smith (So., Stevensville, Md. / DeMatha Catholic) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the offense, while Andrew Tiffey (Sr., Columbia, Md. / Wilde Lake) also added three points on a goal and two helpers. Connor McLean led the Eagles with two goals and five assists.

The Yellow Jackets rushed out to a 7-0 lead before the Cougars could get on the scoreboard and kept the pressure on from there in a route. Tiffey led the charge with seven points on four goals and three assists. Noble Canterbury (Fr., Gainsville, Va. / Patriot) was impressive in the circle with 14 faceoff wins and five ground balls.

Bridgewater 6, Hampden-Sydney 10

After a close first half, the Tigers pulled away in the second to snap the Eagles' four game win streak. Trevor McClelland shined in a defensive battle with three goals.

Inside The Numbers

  • Both teams have played Chatham at home this season. The Yellow Jackets most recently came off of a 22-7 win against the Cougars, while the Eagles took down the Pittsburgh school back on March 2 by a count of 23-5.
  • The Jackets have been one of the top teams in the nation passing the ball and have 77 assists to their credit. That number ranks No. 11 out of 122 in Division III.
