Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon baseball team belted three home runs and scored 21 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Messiah on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened – Game 1:
- The Yellow Jackets would score in each of the first four innings in the opener. In the top of the first, senior Spencer Pietruszynski (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) had a leadoff walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored when sophomore Hunter Cole (Norfolk, Va./Granby) reached on an error. A two-out single by sophomore Myles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) plated Cole with the second run.
- In the second, junior Logan Smith (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) drew a one-out walk, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out base hit by sophomore Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) to give R-MC a 3-0 lead.
- Senior Will Hass (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) belted his second homer of the season in the third as the advantage grew to 4-0.
- The Yellow Jackets would double its lead in the fourth. Pietruszynski smacked a two-run homer and Hass added a two-run single to make it 8-0.
- Junior Hayden Snelsire (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) tossed four scoreless innings before the Falcons tallied three in the fifth. Snelsire earned the win to go to 2-0.
- MU added two in the sixth and put two on with one out in the seventh before sophomore Wyatt Stanley (Beaverdam, Va./Patrick Henry) retired the final two batters to earn his second save.
By The Numbers
- Hass finished with two hits and three RBI, while Pietruszynski had two runs and two RBI.
- Bush went 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI.
- Cole scored twice, while Webb had two hits and one RBI.
How It Happened – Game 2:
- Messiah scored in the top of the first in the nightcap before R-MC responded in the fourth. Webb had a one-out double and junior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton) drew a walk. Freshman Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) had a single to plate Webb and tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore Trey Pridgen (York, Pa./York Suburban) laid down a safety squeeze to bring in Johnson and give the Yellow Jackets a 2-1 edge.
- The Falcons loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the fifth. Senior Jacob Smither (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) came in and struck out three of the four batters he faced, all swinging. MU scored just one run to tie it at 2-2 before the Yellow Jackets exploded in the bottom of the frame. Pietruszynski had a leadoff single and scored on a long homer to right by Cole as R-MC reclaimed the lead at 4-2. Pridgen added a two-run double later in the eight-run outburst as the Yellow Jackets took a 10-2 advantage.
- Bush added a two-run double in a three-run sixth as R-MC posted a 13-2 victory, giving Smither his second win of the season.
