How It Happened

  • The opening set felt like it belonged to a match that took place once rally scoring took effect and both teams were racing to 30. Marymount jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but the Jackets eventually tied the game at 12-all. A four-point rally gave the Jackets a 16-13 lead. R-MC appeared to take the match lead up 23-20 before the Saints came back to tie it with the next three points. The Jackets served for the potential game point four times, but the Saints stayed alive and eventually took the game 31-29.
  • In the second set the YJs had trouble generating any momentum and scored consecutive points just once early on to take a 4-3 lead. The Saints answered immediately after with the next four points and never trailed again in the game.
  • The Saints jumped out to an early 10-5 lead in the third, but the Yellow Jackets didn't go away quietly. Three consecutive points on Saints miscues put the score at 16-13, but the Lemon and Black couldn't get any closer.
