(SALEM, Va.) - A dominating effort by Aimee DeBell (Studley, Va. / St. Gertrude) helped the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team down Lynchburg in the ODAC Tournament semifinals on Saturday. The senior forward powered her way to 24 points and was 12-of-13 from the field as the second-seeded Yellow Jackets took down the No. 6 Hornets.

The first quarter was full of fireworks as both teams combined for 37 points. Thankfully for the Yellow Jackets they were on the positive end of the scoreboard with a 20-17 lead after they shot 52.9% from the field. DeBell started off fast as she scored on all four attempts for eight points in the frame.

The Lemon and Black started the second quarter on fire as Becca Anthony (Sr., Amelia, Va. / Amelia) and Juliana Park (Fr., Fairfax Station, Va. / Davidson Day) hit back-to-back 3-pointers to take a 26-17 lead. Later in the quarter, a Catherine Kagey (So., Roanoke, Va. / Faith Christian) layup made the score 39-26, R-MC's largest lead to that point, before heading into halftime up 40-30.

The second half saw the Yellow Jackets' defense clamp down on Lynchburg. The Hornets were able to get back within six at 48-42, but they were held without another field goal for almost 10 minutes. Their next basket made the score 57-46 in favor of the Jackets with 4:58 to go in the game, and it would be Lynchburg's last until the final bucked of the game to set the final score.

DeBell's 24 points were a new career-best, surpassing her previous mark of 18 points set last year in a win over Ferrum where she went 7-of-13.

Park poured in 13 points with four 3-pointers on the evening. Kagey completed a Yellow Jacket trio in double figures with 10 points. She was 4-for-8 from the field with seven rebounds.

Randolph-Macon is now 14-5 in ODAC Tournament semifinal games.

Lynchburg was led by Olivia Harris who scored 18 points off the bench. She made four 3-pointers on the night. Erin Green was the only Hornets starter in double figures as she scored 10 points.
Championship Sunday awaits the Yellow Jackets as it will be a Randolph-Macon doubleheader in Salem. The women will square off with No. 4 Shenandoah who knocked off top-seeded Washington & Lee 67-59. Tip-off is set for approximately 3:30 p.m.
