(CARY, N.C.) - The weekend scheduled changed for the Randolph-Macon softball team, but the Yellow Jackets were able to adjust and sweep three games on Saturday. Gracie Ellis (Fr., New Kent, Va. /New Kent) put her name in the record books as she tossed a no-hitter to defeat Marymount, Rilee Baughan (Jr., Warsaw, Va. / Rappahannock) followed with a three-hit shutout of her own, and the R-MC bats rallied late in the third game for a one-run win.

How It Happened (Game 1 vs. Marymount) 

• Ellis sat down the Saints with 12 of the 15 putouts coming on strikeouts from the freshman ace. She helped her own cause by going 3-for-4 from the plate. 

• Olivia Owens (So., Salisbury, Md. / James M. Bennett) and Baughan each had two hits and two runs scored for the Lemon and Black. Amanda Lanyon (Fr., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) provided more support with her first collegiate home run as well. 

How It Happened (Game 2 vs. LaGrange) 

• Baughan did the work inside the circle this time and limited the Panthers to just three hits. She also got the job done from the plate as she went 2-for-3. 

• Kayla Davis (Fr., Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) had a three-hit game with a home run and a double leaving her just a triple short of a cycle. 

• Naomi Saddler (Fr., Emporia, Va. / Brunswick) continued her power hitting with her second round trip of the season. 

• Maddy Bates (So., Arlington, Va. / Bishop O'Connell) also had a multiple-hit game as she went 2-for-3. 

How It Happened (Game 3 vs. Denison) 

• With weather changing plans for Sunday, the decision was made to play a third game Saturday. Denison was the opponent and jumped out of the gate with a run in the first inning, but the Jackets were able to get out of the jam with no more damage. 

• R-MC answered in the bottom of the frame with a pair of runs to take the lead. Baughan singled in Lanyon to tie the game before Ellis hit a sacrifice fly to score Davis shortly after. 

• The Big Red scored a pair to regain the lead in the fourth, but Sierra Livingston (So., Dagsboro, Del. / Sussex Tech) tied the game for the Jackets as she brought in Ellis on a groundout. 

• The Jackets needed to rally after Denison plated two more in the sixth. An error helped start the scoring as Baughan scored on a misplay by the Big Red shortstop. Bailey Hairfield (So., Chesterfield, Va. / Cosby) eventually tied the game on a second miscue. Lanyon then provided what proved to be the game winner with a single up the middle to score Kellie Ferguson (Sr., Capron, Va. / Southampton). 

• Ellis was able to retire the side in the seventh to record the win and improve to 3-0 on the year. She allowed five runs, four earned, on 11 hits and struck out nine to give her 21 on the day.

The games scheduled for Sunday are now cancelled with the threat of bad weather. The Yellow Jackets will return to action next week when they head to Columbus, Ga., for the NFCA Leadoff Classic where they are scheduled to play Emory, Central (Iowa), St. John Fisher, Piedmont, MIT, and Trine.
