(BRIDGEWATER, Va.) – Randolph-Macon and Bridgewater will be very familiar with each other these next few days as they will play twice in women's basketball over that time. On Saturday the two will meet in Bridgewater before meeting in Ashland on Monday.
With four games left in the regular season, the Yellow Jackets sit in second place and the Eagles are in seventh.

Michal Ross came off the bench to score 19 points while Kelly Williams and Charlotte Woods both scored 16. Bridgewater was able to hold off the Yellow Jackets, however, as Mary Ruth Shifflett led a quartet of Eagles in double figures with 17 points. R-MC played exceptionally well defensively causing 21 of Bridgewater's 28 turnovers on steals. Both Woods and Williams recorded double-doubles with 16 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Woods was also four steals away from a triple-double.

The Yellow Jackets outlasted the Hornets in a nail-biter between two of the top four teams in the ODAC standings. The Jackets took sole possession of second place with the win. Catherine Kagey (So., Roanoke, Va. / Faith Christian) recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. None were bigger than her last four points as they gave the Lemon and Black the lead and then a cushion to hold off Shenandoah at the end.
Bridgewater 77, Virginia Wesleyan 39 – Thursday, Feb. 10, at Bridgewater
The Eagles had little trouble with the Marlins as they cruised to an easy victory. BC led by 21 at the halftime break and got stronger as the game went on. Jaden Alsberry led the hosts with 13 points and 16 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the season.
Inside The Numbers
- These games will feature the top two rebounders in the league as Alsberry tops the ODAC with 9.7 rebounds per game and Kagey follows in second with 8.7. Both student-athletes have seven double-doubles on the season.
- As a team Randolph-Macon is one of the best rebounding teams in the country. They lead the ODAC in rebound margin with an average of 9.4 more than its opponents, No. 26 nationally out of 423 teams.
- The Yellow Jackets have done well taking care of the ball this season and are second in the ODAC with 15.4 turnovers per game.
- Juliana Park (Fr., Fairfax Station, Va. / Davidson Day) has been one of the most effective 3-point shooters in the nation. She has made 39.3% of her attempts behind the arc, the best in the ODAC and No. 30 in the nation.
- Cheridan Hatfield (Sr., Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) is fifth in the ODAC with a 1.29 assist turnover ratio. She is averaging 3.5 assists per game.
- This will be the second time that Randolph-Macon plays the same team two games in a row this season. They swept Eastern Mennonite in consecutive games last month in a five-day span. This time the games will be three played in three days. This will be the first time Bridgewater will play the same team twice in a row.
