(FERRUM, Va.) – The month of January will end with how it began as Randolph-Macon takes on Ferrum in ODAC women's basketball action. The Yellow Jackets are hoping the result will be similar as well as they hope to get back into the win column when they take on the Panthers.

The Yellow Jackets, who were playing in their first game in exactly four weeks, took down the Panthers thanks to a balanced offense that featured six players who scored in double figures and a season-best 12 3-pointers collected by the team. Allison Burdette (Fr., Martinsburg, W.Va. / Musselman) led the team with 15 points off the bench and joined Cheridan Hatfield (Sr., Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) and Juliana Park (Fr., Fairfax Station, Va. / Davidson Day) with three triples each.
Last Time Out: Randolph-Macon 49, Washington & Lee 52 – Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Crenshaw Gymnasium
In a battle for the top spot in the ODAC between two previously unbeaten teams in conference play, the Jackets came up just short on a chance to tie the game at the end of regulation. Aimee DeBell (Sr., Studley, Va. / St. Gertrude) led a trio in double figures with 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Catherine Kagey (So., Roanoke, Va. / Faith Christian) added 10 points and eight boards.
Ferrum 65, Roanoke 73 – Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Ferrum
A late comeback attempt in the fourth came up just short for the Panthers. Kayla Cabiness led the hosts with 17 points for game-high honors. She was effective getting to the line where she was a perfect 7-for-7 on the night. Roanoke used a big 26-10 second quarter to break the game open and controlled the glass with a 36-22 rebounding advantage.
Inside The Numbers
- Although Cabiness went for a game-high 24 points the last time these two teams met, the Jackets allowed just four Panthers two score, and only two Ferrum players scored more than once.
- Kagey is second in the ODAC in rebounds per game with 8.6. She has four double-doubles on the season.
- Park continues to be a threat behind the arc as she has hit 38.7% of her 3-point attempts, the fourth-best in the conference. Park's mark currently ranks No. 44 in the nation.
- The Jackets have done well to take care of the ball this season. They have had only 223 turnovers, the fewest in the ODAC and are No. 39 nationally in the category. Coincidentally they have also only been called for 223 fouls on the year, also No. 1 in the conference.
- R-MC is No. 25 in the nation in rebound margin with a mark of 9.5, also tops in the ODAC.
- Hatfield is fifth in the ODAC with a 1.25 assist/turnover ratio.
