How It Happened

  • After the Generals opened up the game with the first three goals, a penalty gave the Yellow Jackets new life. • The Generals answered with the next three goals. Jack Smith (Fr., Stevensville, Md. / DeMatha Catholic) was able to get the Jackets back on the board, however, as he scored with 2:23 to go in the first.
  • Washington & Lee opened up the second with seven consecutive goals. Brandon Smith (Jr., Richmond, Va. / Douglas Freeman) scored on an assist from Jack Averna (Jr., Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) with 2:26 to go, but the Generals added the last goal in the frame just before time expired.
  • The third quarter was the best for the Jackets as they outscored the Generals 4-3 in the frame. Pritchard, Cameron Foti (So., Annandale, Va. / Annandale), Brandon Smith, and Averna provided the goals for the Jackets.
  • The Generals ended any hopes for a comeback with the first four goals of the fourth quarter. Austin Day (Sr., Marshall, Va. / Highland) added another EMO goal on an assist from Duncan O'Brien (So., Virginia Beach, Va. / Frank W. Cox) scored the final two goals for the Jackets before time expired.
