Smith, Bowen Score Twice For MLAX vs. No. 5 Lynchburg

(ASHLAND, Va.) – The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team fell in its final home game of the regular season as they hosted No. 5 Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets jumped out to an early lead after one quarter and limited the Yellow Jackets' comeback attempts throughout the rest of the contest.

How It Happened

  • Lynchburg was strong off the start and took a 5-0 lead through the first quarter of play.
  • That lead extended to 6-0 before the Jackets cut the deficit back to five when Cameron Foti (So., Annandale, Va. / Annandale) scored on an assist by Bubba Bowen (Fr., Arnold, Md. / Broadneck).
  • After the Hornets scored the next four goals, Derek Marsilio (Jr., Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) added R-MC's second goal just before the half.
  • The Jackets had a solid third quarter and equaled the Hornets with three goals each. Bowen scored to open up the period while Brandon Smith (Jr., Richmond, Va. / Douglas Freeman) added a pair of goals in the final 1:34 of the frame.
  • Bowen added a second goal midway through the fourth, but it ended up being the final goal of the game for the Jackets.

  • Bowen had his second multiple point game in as many outings with two goals and an assist. He had five points at Randolph last week with a goal and four assists.
  • Brandon Smith scored twice for the second-straight game after he found the back of the net twice against Roanoke.
