- The lead held up for most of the frame until the Shoremen equalized with 4:28 left when Joe Maimone found the back of the net on a helper from Logan Clefisch.
- Both teams appeared to finish the second quarter as they did the first in a tie, but the hosts' Ewan Temple scored before the first half buzzer to put the Jackets down one at the break.
- The momentum carried over into the second half as the Shoremen scored the first two goals in the third. The first came just 42 seconds in, while the second gave the Shoremen a three goal lead 29 seconds later.
- The Jackets refused to quit and came within one goal on a couple of occasions. After an Austin Zappia (So., Roanoke, Va. / North Cross) goal, Jamie Smith (So., Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) cut the deficit to 6-5 with 9:27 to go in the third.
- Washington answered with the next two goals before Jamie Smith and Jack Smith connected to make it 8-6 heading to the fourth.
- Brandon Smith (Jr., / Richmond, Va. / Douglas Freeman) took advantage of a Washington penalty to make the score 9-7 in favor of the hosts thanks to an assist from Jack Averna with 9:33 to go in the game. Averna brought the deficit back to one at 9-8 with 7:39 to play, but the Shoremen added another score just over a minute later to set up the final score and make it last.
