How It Happened
- After the Marlins scratched for two in the top of the first, the Yellow Jackets started their scoring in the bottom of the frame. Senior Ryan Duphorn (Erial, N.J./Paul VI) had a leadoff single and came home on a base hit by Hass to make it 2-1.
- R-MC would take the lead for good in the third. Sophomore Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) had a leadoff double and scored on a single by senior Jacob Selden (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass). Hass walked and broke the tie on a bases loaded walk by senior JT Fitzpatrick (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee). Selden scored on a wild pitch, senior Shawn Nickles (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) delivered an RBI single and freshman Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) had a run-scoring groundout to cap the five-run outburst as the home team went up 6-2.
- The Yellow Jackets put up another crooked number in the fourth. Iannuzzi was hit by a pitch, stole second and stole third. Senior Mike Nickles (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) drew a walk and swiped second. Both would score on a double by Hass to make it 8-2. Hass hustled home on a groundout by Fitzpatrick to up the advantage to 9-2.
- Hass walked and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of senior Reece Yeargain (Chester, Va./Benedictine) in the sixth to make it 10-2.
- R-MC finished its scoring in the seventh. Senior Jack Basse (Fairfax Station, Va./South County) was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a hit-and-run single by Bush. Basse scored on a groundout by Duphorn and Bush came in on a wild pitch to give the Yellow Jackets a 12-2 cushion. VWU added a run in the eighth to make the final 12-3.

Randolph-Macon's scheduled game at Mary Washington on Wednesday, March 31 has been postponed due to expected inclement weather. The teams hope to play the game on Thursday.
