Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Kolby Gibson (Bumpass, Va./Louisa) had 10 kills, 19 total attacks and four digs as the Randolph-Macon men's volleyball team fell in three sets to Marymount on Monday evening.

How It Happened
- The Saints tallied the first two points of Set 1 before a service error gave the Yellow Jackets their first point. MU went up 4-2 before consecutive kills by senior Dayne Iverson (Pasco, Wash./Chiawana) and sophomore Jarrett Carrano (Beaverdam, Va./Patrick Henry) knotted the score at 4-4. With the score even at 7-7, the Saints would tally four of the next five points to go up 11-8. An attack error and a kill by Carrano pulled the home team within one at 11-10. MU would record the next three points to take a 14-10 advantage. R-MC would respond with a 6-2 spurt, capped by a pair of kills by Gibson to level the score at 16-16 and force a timeout by the Saints. MU responded and scored four of the next five points to go up 20-17 and force an R-MC timeout. The Yellow Jackets closed to within two at 20-18, but the Saints secured five of the final seven points to claim a 25-20 win.
- The teams stayed within a point of each other before MU built a 7-5 edge. A kill by Gibson halted the run and an attack error by the Saints tied it at 7-7. MU was up 15-13 before a kill and ace by Iverson evened the score at 15-15. The Saints would take the next three points to lead 18-15. A kill by Gibson and a ball-handling error by MU pulled R-MC within one and it appeared the home team had tied it at 18-18, but a reversal gave the point to the Saints and sparked a 7-2 finish as MU took Set 2 25-19.
- The Saints jumped to a 6-2 advantage in the third set before a kill by junior Scotty Carter (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) sparked a two-point run as R-MC pulled within two at 6-4. MU would score 11 of the next 14 points to take a 17-7 lead. The Saints led 20-11 before the Yellow Jackets scored nine straight to make it 24-20. MU would record the final point to win 25-20.

- Carrano had five kills and 13 total attacks, while senior Corban Jungers (Ashland, Va./J.R. Tucker) had four kills and 13 total attacks. Carter had four hills and six total attacks.
