RMC Women Set For Salisbury Saturday

(SALISBURY, Md.) – Randolph-Macon returns to non-conference play for the rest of the month with a trip to Salisbury for a women's basketball Saturday showdown. The contest against the Sea Gulls will be the last game for the Yellow Jackets before the winter break and the first of three non-conference games to finish out the calendar year.

Surprisingly these two schools separated by just over 200 miles met out west at the Centennial Hills Community Center in the Las Vegas Hoopla. The Yellow Jackets were able to end the year on a good note as Aimee DeBell (Studley, Va. / Saint Gertrude) led them to the victory with 16 points on 6-of-7 from the field and nine rebounds. Charlotte Woods added 11 and Kelsey Wisner scored 10 for RMC, while Kylie Webb totaled 11 off the bench for the Sea Gulls.

Both teams got out to a fast start, but it was the Yellow Jackets that kept the fire burning as they jumped out in front in the third quarter. Catherine Kagey (So., Roanoke, Va. / Faith Christian) scored a team-high 19 points. Six others were within a basket of reaching double-figures.

Salisbury 65, Muhlenberg 59 – Saturday, Dec. 4, at Muhlenberg

The Sea Gulls jumped ahead in the second quarter and held off numerous comeback attempts by the Mules the rest of the way. Four of Salisbury's starters scored in double figures with Lauren Fortescue totaling 14 points to lead a balanced team effort.

Inside The Numbers

  • The Yellow Jackets have won their last 12 ODAC games. Including the conference tournament in 2020, they have won their last 17 games against teams currently in the ODAC.
  • Juliana Park (Fr., Fairfax Station, Va. / Davidson Day) continues to be hot shooters from the outside. Park leads the ODAC and is 12th nationally with a 48.7% clip on 3-point attempts. Becca Anthony (Sr., Amelia, Va. / Amelia) is also sixth in the league at 40.6%.
  • Cheridan Hatfield (Sr., Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) currently sits third in the ODAC with 31 assists. She's also fourth in assist turnover ratio at 1.19. The Yellow Jackets lead the ODAC in assists with 124. They are second in the ODAC in assists per game with 15.5
  • As a team the Yellow Jackets are outrebounding the opposition 42.9-35.5. The +7.4 rebound margin per game is second best in the ODAC.

This will be the third and final game against the seven-team C2C Conference. The Jackets previously played fellow east coast programs Christopher Newport and Mary Washington

Becca Anthony
 and Cheridan Hatfield return to the lineup as VaSID All-State selections a year ago. Anthony was also the lone All-ODAC selection for the Yellow Jackets.
