How it Happened:
Game 1:
- The Jackets bats were quiet for most of game one, but they threatened in the bottom of the sixth when senior Shelby Hill (Mechanicsville, Va. / St. Margaret's) was hit by a pitch before fellow senior Maddie Stone (Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen) shot a single through the left-hand side. Baughan threw seven innings for R-MC striking out three Greensboro batters.
Game 2:
- Randolph-Macon warmed up the bats in game two and got on the board early. Hill led off the bottom of the first with a single through the left-hand side before stealing second and taking third as well. Stone was then hit by a pitch before senior Sami Davidson (Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point) singled to the shortstop to load the bases.
- Baughan would come to the plate and rip a single up the middle scoring Hill and giving R-MC a 1-0 lead.
- The Yellow Jackets would break things open in the third inning when Davidson led off with a single before Doyle reached on an error and Baughan drew a walk to load the bases. This brought Celiberti to the plate who would single scoring another run for R-MC.
- Sophomore Kellie Ferguson (Capron, Va. / Southampton Academy) would then reach base on a throwing error by the catcher to score another run before freshman Jessica Pittman (Virginia Beach, Va. / Kempsville High School) would shoot a single out to right field to give the Jackets a 4-2 lead.
- Hill would follow her up with a hot shot to short which the shortstop fumbled to score another Jackets run before Davidson ripped a ball past the third baseman to push the lead to 6-2. Doyle would finish the scoring in the inning for R-MC with a two-run single over the third baseman's head to leave Randolph-Macon with an 8-2 lead.
- The Yellow Jackets would look to close things out on mercy rule in the bottom of the fifth as Davidson lead off with a single followed up by Doyle singling to left field. Baughan would then put a single in the right-center gap that would score Davidson.
- Junior Megan Smith (Lexington, Va. / Rockbridge County) would fire a single back up the middle to score Doyle and put the Jackets one run away from the victory.
