The Basics

Score: Randolph-Macon 20, Ferrum 3

Location/Venue: Ashland, Va./Day Field

Records: Randolph-Macon (6-0, 1-0 ODAC), Ferrum (3-3, 0-1 ODAC)

How It Happened

  • As he had in the last home game, freshman Kevin Andrews (Fallston, Md. / St. Paul's School) lead off with the first goal of the game about six minutes into the contest and in a man-up situation. He got an assisting pass from senior Colin DiSesa (Ashland, VA / Hanover) to give R-MC the opening lead. Tiffey then added his first of the day about two minutes later after an assisting pass from senior Brendan Markovic (Westminster, MD / Winters Mill).
  • Ferrum earned one goal back, but R-MC scored three straigh as Tiffey assisted DISesa with his first goal of the day around the 4:00 mark. Senior Tyler Flora (Mechanicsville, VA / Hanover) sent a pass from fellow senior Camden Stramanak (Annapolis, MD / Annapolis) into the cage around the 2:00 mark and sophomore Derek Marsilio (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt) got a goal about 30 seconds later. Ferrum earned one more, but Marsilio made an assisting pass for Tiffey to score his second of the quarter just before the period ended.
  • R-MC shut Ferrum out in the second and third quarters. Tiffey had all three goals of the second for R-MC. DiSesa earned the assist for the first goal in an advantage situation while sophomore Brandon Smith (Richmond, VA / Douglas Freeman) added an assist on the second goal of the frame. Tiffey scored the third unassisted, leading to a 9-2 score at the halftime break.
  • R-MC's offense kept clicking as the Yellow Jackets scored two early goals by some familiar faces. Tiffey and DiSesa scored the second half's opening two goals, both unassisted and both coming in the first five minutes.
  • The offenses went quiet for about five minutes until Junior Jimmy Hasemann (Gaithersburg, Md. / Magruder) added a third in the frame for R-MC. His goal kickstarted R-MC as senior James Mahan (Salem, VA / Salem) scored less than two minutes later after an assist from DiSesa. Markovic connected with DiSesa for DiSesa's third goal of the day, while Tiffey added a second assist moments later on a goal by Mahan, who also had three goals today. Marsilio closed the frame out with an unassisted goal with 15 seconds remaining.
  • Senior Dan Muller (Glen Allen, VA / Glen Allen) was able to get into the cage off the fourth quarter faceoff, which he won. After senior Ben Swavely (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown East) picked up the ground ball, both rushed toward the cage as Swavely offered an assisting pass to Muller, who converted the goal. Mahan added his third of the day about a minute later, with Marsilio earning the assist for that goal. Freshman Cameron Foti (Annandale, Va. / Annandale) scored his first career goal at the 9:53 mark, while seniors Lee Pratt (Winston-Salem, NC / Ronald Reagan) and Davis Hitt (Annapolis, MD / Annapolis) connected with about a minute and a half to go, with Hitt scoring the goal.
