Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. – The 12th ranked Randolph-Macon Softball team finished their weekend at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic with a sweep on Sunday, beating McDaniel in the first game of the day 6-4 before beating host William Peace in five innings by a score of 9-1. Senior Shelby Hill (Mechanicsville, Va. / St. Margaret's) went 5 for 8 on the day and drove in three runs while sophomore Erin Doyle (Moseley, Va. / Cosby High School) launched her second home run of the weekend and drove in two. Seniors Sami Davidson (Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point), Sam Scifres (Midlothian, Va. / Clover Hill), and Maddie Stone (Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen) also put in multi-hit and multi-RBI performances on the day.

How it Happened:
Game One:
- Junior Ali Celiberti (Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) started strong in the circle picking up three strikeouts over the course of the first two innings before helping herself by driving in a run with a double to the right-center gap which scored Davidson.
- The bottom of the fourth brought more action as Celiberti reached on an error before Taylor Sanderford (Mechanicsville, Va. / Atlee) and Scifres shot back-to-back singles through the hole to load the bases. Freshman Jessica Pittman (Virginia Beach, Va. / Kempsville High School) hit a sac fly to center to drive in the Jackets second run of the game.
- The R-MC bats caught fire as senior Brooklyne Carr (Windsor, Va. / Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) singled to drive in pinch runner Cameron Hildebrand (Fincastle, Va. / James River). Hill followed her up with a double that would score another run before Stone singled to push the R-MC lead to 6-0.
- From there Celiberti would see out the game picking up two more strikeouts along the way.
Game Two:
- Randolph-Macon picked up where they left off in game one when Scifres doubled in the top of the second inning before junior Kamryn Steinruck (Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen) sent a hot shot to center scoring Scifres.
- R-MC would pick up three more in the top of the third when Hill ripped a leadoff triple to right field before scoring when Stone reached first on an error.
- Doyle would come to the plate and hammer a ball to straight away center for her second homerun of the weekend.
- In the top of the fifth Scifres would single to left scoring Davidson who had reached on a leadoff single before being bunted over by Sanderford. Steinruck would draw a walk before freshman Kayla Horesky, pinch hitting, would single to score Scifres. Hill would single up the middle continuing her strong weekend and scoring two more.
- The offense was on fire but freshman Rilee Baughan (Warsaw, Va. / Rappahannock High School) picked up her first collegiate win, giving up only one hit over the course of five innings and striking out two.
By the Numbers:
- Three different players drove in multiple runs across the two games on Sunday and four had multi-hit games.

- The Yellow Jackets return home on Wednesday March 4th to face Stevenson in a 2 PM first pitch before facing Allegheny at home on Friday, starting at 2 PM and Greensboro at home on Saturday, scheduled for 1 PM
