Off the proceeding faceoff, won by senior Dan Muller (Glen Allen, VA / Glen Allen) with the ground ball picked up by fellow senior Tyler Flora (Mechanicsville, VA / Hanover), DiSesa caged R-MC's second goal before the two-minute mark. DiSesa scored again as the clock approached two-to-go in the period while Smith added his first after an assist from sophomore Andrew Tiffey (Columbia, MD / Wilde Lake) with under a minute to play. R-MC had a 4-0 heading into the next frame.
- R-MC kept the pressure on in the second quarter. The Yellow Jackets scored thrice more to total seven unanswered, all in quick succession. Senior Tom Prusak (Phoenix, MD / St. Paul's) dished a pass over to Marsilio to allow the sophomore to score around the 11:42 mark. About a minute later, Andrews netted his second thanks to a pass from Markovic to put R-MC ahead 6-0. On the following faceoff, senior Joe Maranto (Joppa, MD / Fallston) won at the X, picked up the ground ball and took it all the way to the cage for what is just the second goal of his career. SUNY-Delhi earned one goal back but DiSesa once more responded to make it 8-1 R-MC at the break.

DiSesa added his third goal of the day about a minute later after a Broncos turnover. After SUNY-Delhi earned one back, DiSesa helped out on Smith's second goal of the day with about 7:11 to go in the frame.
- R-MC gained its 12th goal of the game as junior Jimmy Hasemann (Gaithersburg, Md. / Magruder) scored following a turnover forced by senior Merrick Wood (Arnold, MD / Severna Park).
