Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Seniors Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./Halifax Academy), Michal Ross (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) and Charlotte Woods (Richmond, Va./Trinity) combined for 43 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and four blocks as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team defeated Shenandoah 73-51 on Tuesday evening.

How it Happened:
- After the Hornets netted the first basket of the game, Woods tied it with a layup and sophomore Cheridan Hatfield (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) hit a three-pointer to give the Yellow Jackets a 5-2 lead, a lead they would not relinquish. SU pulled within one before Williams had two layups in a 6-2 spurt as R-MC went up 11-6 with 5:35 remaining in the first quarter. Ross had three straight buckets for the Yellow Jackets as the home team led 17-12 with three minutes left. Following a score by the Hornets, Williams and Woods had consecutive layups as R-MC led 21-14 after one period. Ross and Williams both had six points in the initial quarter. R-MC had a 10-5 advantage on the boards and 14-8 on points in the paint.
- Williams and Ross had buckets in the lane to start the second quarter as the Yellow Jackets took a double-digit lead at 25-14. The Hornets cut the deficit to eight before three straight baskets by Ross gave R-MC a 32-18 lead with 5:25 remaining in the second period. A trey by junior Becca Arrington (Amelia, Va./Amelia Academy) followed by a steal and layup by Hatfield pushed the margin to 19 at 37-18 with 1:05 left. SU had the final basket of the half with four seconds left, snapping a seven-minute scoreless streak, to make the halftime score 37-20. Ross paced the Yellow Jackets with 14 points, while Williams added nine and Hatfield chipped in seven. Arrington had six rebounds and four assists. R-MC held a 13-4 advantage in points off turnovers and 22-12 on points in the paint.
- Williams had a layup 10 seconds into the third quarter to push the lead back to 19 at 39-20. The teams traded baskets before a three-pointer by Arrington made it 46-27 midway through the period. The Hornets cut the deficit to 15 before a trey by Hatfield gave R-MC a 53-35 lead after three quarters. Williams had eight points during the third period.
- A free throw by Williams and a layup by Woods gave the home team a 21-point advantage at 56-35 with eight minutes left in the contest. A three-pointer by Arrington gave the Yellow Jackets their largest lead of 23 points at 63-40 with six minutes remaining. SU scored nine straight points to close within 14 before R-MC ended the game on a 10-2 run to claim the 73-51 victory.

- R-MC had three score in double figures. Williams finished with 20, while Ross added 14 and Hatfield had 13. Woods and Arrington both ended with nine points.
