ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse found the cage nine times in the second quarter as the Yellow Jackets exploded in the frame, helping them to a win against the visiting William Peace Pacers.

How It Happened

• Junior Colin DiSesa (Ashland, VA / Hanover) opened the scoring with a man-advantage goal at the 9:56 mark in the first quarter. Junior Tyler Flora (Mechanicsville, VA / Hanover) got the assist credit as R-MC got out in front 1-0. William Peace soon tied the game, but DiSesa would not let it stand for long. He scored at the 6:14 mark with an unassisted effort at goal. The Pacers tied the game once more at 2-2, but freshman Brandon Smith (Richmond, VA / Douglas Freeman) took a pass from DiSesa to break the tie with under a minute to play.
• The goals came fast and furious for R-MC in the second period. Off the faceoff in which he won, junior Dan Muller (Glen Allen, VA / Glen Allen) scored to open the quarter, taking a pass from junior Merrick Wood (Arnold, MD / Severna Park), who got the assist credit. Directly after that goal, R-MC won another faceoff, this time from junior Joe Maranto (Joppa, MD / Fallston), which lead to senior Ty Anderson (Chestertown, MD / Kent County) scoring with 13:43 to go. Anderson got an aid from Smith. Junior Brendan Markovic (Westminster, MD / Winters Mill) tallied the next R-MC goal, as with 9:31 to go, he scored R-MC's sixth goal of the night. Markovic turned around and offered an assist to Muller for the next goal, which came off a Muller-won faceoff as Muller came through the middle of the defense for a wide open shot. William Peace scored a goal in the middle of the period, but it was still tough for the Pacers to stop the onslaught. Freshman Andrew Tiffey (Columbia, MD / Wilde Lake) got a pass from fellow freshman Derek Marsilio (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt) to sent it into the cage with 7:15 to go. DiSesa scored his third of the night after a pass from Tiffey with 5:22 to go in the period, pushing R-MC ahead 9-3. After another faceoff win for Muller, Markovic scored, sending an unassisted goal in with 4:52 to go. Less than a minute later, Tiffey got an assist from Anderson to score R-MC's 11^th of the night. The half ended with freshman Jack Averna (Warrenton, VA / Fauquier) scoring with 2:19 to go and R-MC took a 12-3 advantage into the break.
• In a unique scenario for a defender, junior Camden Stramanak (Annapolis, MD / Annapolis) found himself with a chance at goal, which he took and converted early in the third quarter. He scored after forcing a turnover and taking it all the way to the cage. Marsilio put one in the net with 4:56 to go in the third quarter, taking a pass from Tiffey to convert R-MC's 14^th goal of the game.
• Another Yellow Jacket defender got a chance at goal in the fourth quarter. Senior Cole Churchill (Hillsborough, NC / Cedar Ridge) scored a goal after being left with a clean look following a ground ball pickup. After the ground ball, he passed to Markovic, who gave it right back to Churchill just outside the crease. Churchill marked his first goal since his freshman year. The Pacers added one about a minute later making the margin 15-4. Senior Lee Pratt (Winston-Salem, NC / Ronald Reagan) got the last goal of the evening for R-MC off a pass from junior Tom Prusak (Phoenix, MD / St. Paul's) with 3:20 to go.

Inside The Numbers

• R-MC outshot William Peace 59-26 and grabbed 40 ground balls to William Peace's 13.
• The Yellow Jackets dominated at the faceoff X as well, grabbing 15 of 23. Muller accounted for ten of those wins.
• Stramanak forced five turnovers. He, along with Tiffey, each picked up six ground balls as well. Anderson and Marsilio were close behind with four ground balls each.
• Senior Chris Cerrina (Ridgewood, NJ / Ridgewood) made nine saves on 13 shots.
