Lynchburg Uses Big Second Quarter To Dispatch Men's Lacrosse

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg scored seven goals in the second quarter, which became too much for Randolph-Macon's Men's Lacrosse team to overcome as they fell 14-6 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action in Lynchburg on Saturday. Senior Alex Camilliere (Huntingtown, MD / Huntingtown) scored twice in the loss.

R-MC (3-6, 0-3 ODAC) got on top early. With 11:17 remaining in the first, senior Coleman Adams (Mechanicsville, VA / St. Christopher's) found the net following a pass from sophomore Brendan Markovic (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill). It marked Adams' second straight game with a goal while Markovic collected his second career assist.

After Lynchburg (4-5, 2-0 ODAC) answered, R-MC went on the attack again. With 6:45 left in the quarter, Camilliere shot a goal past the keeper to give R-MC the lead back. But Lynchburg would end the quarter with a pair of goals to take a 3-2 lead into the second.

The second quarter was all Lynchburg as the Hornets scored seven goals in the period, heading into the intermission with the 10-2 advantage.

Lynchburg kept the pressure on, scoring the first four goals of the third quarter.

R-MC mounted an offensive run towards the end of the third. With 5:14 remaining, senior Miles Muncie (Midlothian, VA / Midlothian) scored in a man-up situation to give the Yellow Jackets their third goal of the game. Moments later with 1:45 left, Muncie shot a pass over to sophomore Ryan Tiffey (Colombia, Md. / Wilde Lake) to allow Tiffey to score, making the deficit ten. It marked Muncie's 18th goal and first assist, while Tiffey celebrated his 12th goal of the season.

Randolph-Macon continued to fight in the fourth quarter as Camilliere cut around the left alley to shoot and score his second of the game and 13th of the season. The score came with 6:49 remaining.

Seconds later, Fellow senior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, GA / Roswell) also found the net in a man-up advantage situation in the fourth quarter. Despite R-MC not allowing another Lynchburg goal in the fourth, the comeback bid fell short as the Hornets notched the win 14-6.

Junior Chris Cerrina (Ridgewood, NJ / Ridgewood) made 12 saves on the afternoon. Adams and fellow senior Kyle Geblein (Hagerstown, MD / Smithsburg) each picked up three ground balls for the Yellow Jackets

R-MC was able to limit turnovers to just 13 compared to 15 for the Hornets.

Randolph-Macon will face Marymount (Va.) on Wednesday at 4:00 PM at Day Field.
