Box Score ST.MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Randolph-Macon men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season as it fell 3-2 to St/ Mary's on Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets took the lead in the 19th minute through freshman Anthony Astruc (Glen Allen, Va./ Benedictine) from senior Jacob McHugh's (Aberdeen, Md./ West Nottingham Academy) cross from outside the box. That goal was Astruc's second of the season and second goal in as many games.
St. Mary's would then take the lead with two goals on either side of half time.
R-MC responded just one minute after St. Mary's second goal. Freshman Andrew Griggs (Galloway, N.J./ Absegami) also scored his second of the season from senior Logan McHugh's (Aberdeen, Md./ West Nottingham Academy) corner kick. That marked McHugh's fifth assist and ninth point of the season.
St. Mary's scored the winning goal in the 59th minute of the game to hand the Yellow Jackets their first loss of the 2016 season.
The Yellow Jackets fought till the end of the game in what turned out to be a thrilling five goal match. R-MC hit the crossbar four times throughout the game. R-MC outshot St. Mary's 11-10 and led in corners 5-2. Astruc led the team in shots on goal with two.
The Randolph-Macon men's soccer team will be back on the field on Tuesday, September 20 when it travels to Neumann.
