Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. - Sophomore Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) had six goals and one assist to lead the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team past Randolph 23-1 Saturday afternoon in ODAC action.
Hsieh had five first-half goals as the Yellow Jackets (10-4, 7-0 ODAC) built an early lead. Sophomore Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) had five assists to go along with one goal. Lightfoot is third in the nation in assists per game with 3.17 per contest.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first six goals of the game in the first 10 minutes, with senior Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) netting two and single goals by junior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan), senior Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney), Hsieh and senior Alyssa Chavez (Frederick, Md./Walkersville). After the Wildcats netted a goal, R-MC piled on eight more to make it 14-1 at intermission. Hsieh had half of those eight, with additional goals by Jamieson, Dee, sophomore Frankie Willing (Salisbury, Md./Worcester) and freshman Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County). The Yellow Jackets held a 26-9 advantage in shots, including 21-3 in shots on goal. R-MC held a 14-6 edge in ground balls and 10-6 in draw controls.
R-MC scored all nine of the goals of the second half as junior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) and freshman Hannah Makepeace (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft) both netted two, while Hsieh, Lightfoot, freshman Saunders Riley (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) as well as freshmen sisters Hannah and Rachel Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) each tallied one as the game finished 23-1.
The Yellow Jackets had a 20-9 advantage in ground balls. Lightfoot led a balanced attack with three ground balls. R-MC also had an 18-7 edge in draw controls. Snee paced the victors with eight, while Dee and sophomore Lucy Andrews (Bethesda, Md./Johnson) each had three.
Junior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) recorded a pair of saves.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. with a home contest against Washington and Lee at Day Field in a battle for first place in the ODAC.
