Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Va. - Junior Madison Gilman (Glen Allen, Va./Patrick Henry) had two homers in the opener and junior Sierra Ford (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) added three in the nightcap as the Randolph-Macon softball team swept an ODAC doubleheader from Eastern Mennonite Wednesday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (14-8, 8-6 ODAC) took the opener 7-3 before winning 9-4 in the nightcap.
In Game 1, Gilman smacked a two-run dinger to cap a three-run first. Gilman added a solo shot in the sixth to complete the scoring for R-MC.
Ford and senior Amanda Sopko (Skippers, Va./Greensville) both had two hits and a run for the Yellow Jackets.
Freshman Nelda Bagley (Kenbridge, Va./Central) raised her record to 8-3, going seven innings with six hits, two earned runs and three strikeouts against the Royals (13-9, 6-8).
Ford went deep three times and drove in six in the second game. She had a solo shot in the first, a three-run dinger in the second and a two-run homer in the sixth. Freshman Harley Jones (Broadnax, Va./Brunswick) also went deep, with a solo shot in the third.
Sophomore Kelsey McLaughlin (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) improved to 6-5, allowing six hits, one walk and three runs in five innings.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, April 11 for a 1:30 p.m. ODAC doubleheader at Guilford.
