Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Junior Nick Benhoff (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) and sophomore Sam Mayer (Severna Park, Md./Severna) both had two goals and an assist as Washington and Lee rallied to defeat the Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team 12-9 in ODAC action Saturday afternoon.
The Generals (9-6, 4-3) scored five times in the first period to lead 5-0 after one. Freshman Miles Muncie (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) and Mayer scored the lone two goals in the second quarter as W&L led 5-2 at halftime.
R-MC scored six of the nine goals in the third period as the Yellow Jackets tied the game at 8-8. Freshman Alex Camilliere (Huntington, Md./Huntington) scored a pair in the third quarter for the Yellow Jackets.
Freshman Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) scored 2:10 into the fourth period as R-MC took its first lead at 9-8. W&L would score the final four goals of the game to record the 12-9 victory.
Benhoff won seven faceoffs and recorded six ground balls. Senior Alex Jesmer (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI) caused three turnovers and had two ground balls.
Junior Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) had 14 saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon hosts Lynchburg on Wednesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. at Day Field.
