Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. - Freshman Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) scored six goals, including the game-winner with nine seconds remaining in overtime as the Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team nipped Shenandoah 9-8 Wednesday evening in ODAC play.
Both teams scored twice in the first period, with Keepers scoring the final goal of the period with 3:14 left to make it a 2-2 contest.
R-MC scored the first two goals of the second quarter, the second by Keepers, as the Yellow Jackets (6-9, 3-4 ODAC) took a 4-2 advantage. After the Hornets (4-9, 0-6 ODAC) pulled within one, Keepers netted his third goal with six minutes remaining in the period to make it 5-3. SU tallied the final goal of the half and trailed 5-4 at intermission.
The Hornets scored the first goal of the third period to knot the score at 5-5. Keepers scored with four minutes left to give the Yellow Jackets a 6-5 lead.
Keepers had the first goal of the fourth quarter and freshman Coleman Adams (Mechanicsville, Va./St. Christopher's) scored to give R-MC an 8-5 lead with eight minutes remaining. The Hornets scored the final three goals of regulation, with the tying goal coming with 1:21 left to make it 8-8.
Keepers netted the game-winner on an assist by freshman Tyee Buttrey (Damascus, Md./Damascus) with nine seconds left in the overtime period.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, April 18 for a 3 p.m. ODAC contest at Washington and Lee.
