Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Freshman Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) tallied four goals and junior Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) added three as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team won its fifth straight game by defeating Randolph 18-7 in ODAC action Saturday afternoon at Day Field.
The Yellow Jackets (7-2, 3-0) scored the first four goals of the game in the first 10 minutes, with Hsieh accounting for the first two. The Wildcats (2-7, 0-4) netted the next two goals to make it a 4-2 contest. R-MC would score four straight goals, with Jamieson recording three, as the Yellow Jackets took an 8-2 advantage with 10 minutes remaining in the first period. After a Randolph goal, R-MC scored three straight to make it 11-3. The Wildcats registered the final two goals of the half in the final minute to trail 11-5 at intermission.
R-MC dominated the start of the second half, scoring five straight goals in the first eight minutes to take a 16-5 lead. Hsieh had two goals during the run. Each team scored twice over the final 20 minutes to make the final 18-7.
The Yellow Jackets had five players with two goals: junior Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney), sophomore Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll), sophomore Kelly Barney (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan), freshman Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) and freshman Lucy Andrews (Bethesda, Md./Johnson). Senior Betsy Hebert (Lutherville, Md./Roland Park Country) tallied the remaining goal for R-MC.
R-MC held a 36-14 advantage in shots, including 15-3 in the second half. The Yellow Jackets committed 11 turnovers, compared to 23 by the Wildcats. Junior Natalie Schnell (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) and sophomore Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) each had three caused turnovers for the Yellow Jackets.
Sophomore Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) recorded four saves in the first half, while sophomore Jamie Langbein (Brookville, Md./Sherwood) registered one save in the second period.
Randolph-Macon heads to first-place Washington and Lee on Wednesday, April 1 for a 4:30 p.m. ODAC contest.
