Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Va. – Freshman Nelda Bagley (Kenbridge, Va./Central) tossed a five-hit shutout in the opener and sophomore Kelsey McLaughlin (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) did the same in the nighcap as the Randolph-Macon softball team took two from Methodist on Wednesday afternoon.
Bagley (6-1) walked one and fanned one in seven innings. McLaughlin (2-3) allowed one free pass and struck out three in seven frames.
The Yellow Jackets (9-5) used the long ball for their offense in Game 1. Senior Sharese Jarvis (Cobbs Creek, Va./Mathews) went deep in the first inning and junior Sierra Ford (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) homered in the third to give R-MC all its runs. Jarvis and junior Madison Gilman (Glen Allen, Va./Patrick Henry) both had two hits.
In Game 2, sophomore Katie Lockett (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) drove in three to lead the R-MC offense. After the Yellow Jackets scored in the first, Lockett delivered a two-run single in the second to give the home team a 3-0 advantage. Lockett drove in her third run in a three-run sixth.
Freshman Addi Johnson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) had two hits and two RBI, while senior Amanda Sopko (Skippers, Va./Greensville) went 3 for 4 with one run and one RBI.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Sunday, March 29 with a 1:30 p.m. home ODAC doubleheader against Randolph.
