Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Freshman Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) recorded one goal and two assists as the Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-5 decision to Christopher Newport Wednesday evening at Day Field.
After an early goal by the Captains (2-0), freshman Coleman Adams (Mechanicsville, Va./St. Christopher's) netted the equalizer with 5:57 left in the opening period. CNU added a pair of goals to take a 3-1 lead after one quarter.
Keepers scored early in the second period on an assist from freshman Schylur King (Owings, Md./Northern) as the Yellow Jackets (1-3) pulled within one at 3-2. CNU added three goals and led 6-2 at halftime.
The Captains scored the first four goals of the third quarter to open up a 10-2 advantage. Keepers assisted on goals by sophomore Ryan Davidson (Logan Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional) and King, while junior Nick Benhoff (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) also scored on an assist by Davidson to make it 11-5. CNU tallied the final six goals to secure the victory.
Junior Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) recorded a pair of saves, while junior Thomas Smith (Richmond, Va./Benedictine) came off the bench to register seven saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 for a 3 p.m. home contest against Goucher.
