Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomores Ryan Davidson (Logan Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional) and Sam Mayer (Severna Park, Md./Severna) both recorded a pair of goals as the Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team dropped a 10-6 decision to Catholic Sunday afternoon at Day Field.
The match was tied at 6 after three quarters before the Cardinals (3-0) scored four times in the final period.
Davidson and freshman Coleman Adams (Mechanicsville, Va./St. Christopher's) scored the first goals of the match as the Yellow Jackets (1-2) took a 2-0 lead. CUA tallied the next two scores before Davidson scored early in the second period to give R-MC a 3-2 edge. The Cardinals scored with 2:23 left in the half as the teams were tied 3-3 at intermission.
Mayer scored twice in the third quarter, his second giving the Yellow Jackets a 6-5 advantage. Senior Nolan Clark (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) also tallied a goal during the third period for R-MC. Catholic would score the final five goals of the game to secure the win.
Adams finished with a goal and two assists for R-MC.
Junior Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) recorded 11 saves and also had an assist for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 25 for a 7 p.m. home contest against Christopher Newport at Day Field.
